Contact microphones are stethoscope-like mics that you place onto a surface to record vibrations. This way, i was able to record the raw engine without wind or perspective. The left channel is the chassis and the right is the engine block. . . Blending the two together produces a great sound. Free to use.

Several years back my older brother stumbled upon a bunch of old family reel to reel films and sat down one evening to project them on a wall and digitize them. This is the sound of that process. What you can hear, i imagine, is the noise of the projector in the left channel and the sound of the reels in the right channel. I've been obsessed with the sounds of the infinite variation in old analog hardware. As a sound designer, that infinite variation is often sought after but rarely, or accurately, reproduced through digital files in various libraries. Of if they are, they're often too short to cover whatever scene i am trying to fill. On the surface it's just noise but if you listen closer it's this wonderful cacophony of overlapping and repeating sounds that are always looping but never quite identical on each rotation. It was ripped from youtube using audio hijack at 48khz/16bit, but due to youtube re-encoding things as youtube does, it's nowhere near the source. It's still, in my opinion, a sound worth sharing. This is one of those sound effects you kind of go "huh?" about when you hear. Let me explain what this is and how i imagine it being used. To me, it sounded like a good sound effect for when a computer (whether in a game or animation or whatever) screen starts writing down text (in other words, when a message is displayed on a screen and is written down one letter at a time until the complete message is shown). There are two versions here. The first one fades out (to be used a single time), and the second one is loopable (so you can loop it to make it last longer). Okay, i'm done with the long boring description. I hope you enjoy this weird, different type of sound effect :). P. S. Coffee at the cottage. Started a olympus ls-10 + cheap old sony microphone, then proceeded to load the auto-drip coffee machine with coffee grounds, 4 cups of water and hit the brew button. Then, took out the old toaster, put a leftover waffle from yesterday's breakfast in, and toasted while the coffee was brewing. Various sounds accompanied with this ritual. . . Coffee maker and toaster sounds. Unscrewing and replacing the top to the nutella jar. Squeaky old oak floors of this 90 year old house making noise while i walk around. Water running, old clock on the wall ticking etc.

In my quest for that perfect sound that i'm looking for, i ended with something that doesn't quite fit the bill. Never the less, i think it has potential in the right hands. One thing i would like to point out is a single glitch at about 1. 907. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure it out. It may be a non-issue to someone that hasn't obsessed over it before, during, and after dinner. Use it and abuse it if it fits your needs. Key: a♭ minoralt key: 1abpm 107 (i had a clip running at 160 just fine).

A technical problem i had with my technics stereo cassette desk rs-5 where playback would deliver this fading squarewave at maximum volume. Apparently, it could have been an issue with the tape header wearing out. Thought i might as well upload it here, as i'm not sure anyone will be able to create this sound again. Note, this sound was de-amplifiied by 10 db in audacity 3. 1. 3. Simply put, the raw file was incredibly loud. If you're curious enough, you can increase it back up to its original volume, though i wouldn't advise it.

My keurig coffee maker has been sounding a little rough so i decided to record it with my zoom h1n this morning as it made me a cup of coffee. It's the entire cycle with the general noise of a kitchen. Mainly you can hear my 20 year old fridge humming in the background during the quit parts of the keurig cycle. Don't plan on using it for anything, so have fun with it. The audio from when the coffee starts to pour into my cup is on the left side, so that was pretty cool to listen too on the headphones when i played it back.

I recorded these sounds in three different offices. This is the result of them mixed, because i had an order for a sound like that for a film that was a scene of a noisy office as well, because it had many people working together. The recording was very good, was originally obtained on a machine with 8 channels of 8 large diaphragm microphones positioned to cover all recording environments. -----------------------gravei esses sons em tres escritórios diferentes. Here are the sounds i recorded:- the "loose parts" sounds were a slightly unscrewed valve on a trumpet. - the hydraulic leg-lifting noise was a hatch door opening on a van. - the metal foot hitting the ground was me banging on a metal garage door. - the humming engine noise (it's quiet) was a roll of duct tape spun on a wooden board. - the various other clanks and pops were the same trumpet noises, just edited a bunch. I picked up a home-grade reel to reel machine at a thrift store and and this is the tape which was in it. A father sends messages from home to his son in the u. S. Navy during the vietnam war, including fatherly advice about cars and shopping overseas and anxiously awaiting his sons return. He provides sample fodder at 14:19 about musical gear lust and otherwise provides an insight to the times. Recorded in my dad's bedroom with lifecam hd3000 webcam. This is a much better recording than my previous oxygen concentrator file, as i hauled my desktop into the bedroom at the other end of the apartment where the machine now is, when i was home alone. The webcam is on the bed about 3 or 4 feet from the machineat the beginning of the file you hear me flip the big switch and the machine comes on with a long on beep and thumps. I edited it to start then. At 00:1. 8 what i suspect is the water pump comes on, though i may be wrong. That's when the gurgling starts though. The machine has a small reservoir for distilled water to moisten the airflow. A cup or two lasts several daysyou'll hear various hisses and thumps in a 15. 6 second cycle as it runs. At 03:03 i flip the big switch to shut the machine off, and it bubbles and gurgles away for the rest of the file, as water i assume slowly perculates back into the reservoir, the bubbling getting quieter and quieter until it doesn't even sound like bubbling anymore, until it finally ticks to a stop. At 03:16 you hear me step as i get my foot loose from the mic cord lol. At 04:13 the furnace shuts down as a car finishes going by outside in the bass register, faint traffic noises and the furnace being the only background noises you'll hear aside from my moving around a couple times, and a faint bluejay at the end. At about 07:00 you can barely hear the machine anymore, but i could hear a faint ticking with my own ears. At 07:04 the furnace comes back on. At 07:08 you'll hear a bluejay faintly calling outside and a car going by outside after, which finishes the file at 07:20. I edited out my walking to the computer to shut the recording down. We where located in the news media viewing area called nasa causeway. This as close as anyone can get to the launch. This was the maiden voyage of the orion spacecraft, and one of the very few delta iv heavy launches. In the beginning of recording you hear nasa announcer giving countdown into loud speakers, when you reach around the 1min 50 sec mark the true booster engine sound overtakes the pa system. We are very grateful for the opportunity to share this, most powerful man made machine with 2. 1million pounds of thrust to get millions of pounds into space.

I was fooling around with audacity and created this neat little sound. I have no clue how to lower the volume, and really, i mean it: this thing is loud. I keep my volume at 10% and i couldn't even listen to this thing with my headphones. I have tried to lower the volume (so that it doesn't hurt the ears) but to no avail. If you by chance know how (in audacity) then feel free to tell me in the comments and i'll re-upload a non-deafening version. If you use it i don't mind at all, though i am curious, if you do use it, what you'll use it for. Either way, i don't mind, but i'm curious by nature.

A computer-generated voice build specifically for a video game called artemis spaceship bridge simulator. I wrote the text, put it through a royalty-free text to voice generator. Then i edited it in pro tools with several fx to achieve the proper mood. I specifically use it with artemis bridge tools, which lets this track be triggered by game events. I am not affiliated with this video game in any way. Just a passionate sound designer with a gaming habit. For this track, the computer says "docking complete. ".

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording. Equipment used: zoom h4n recorder using the internal stereo microphones set on 180 degrees for the greatest sound capture.

I had read that some bluegrass musicians tune their guitar strings to dadf#ad because it makes playing that style of music easier. But what does it sound like? this is the sound of each string being plucked and then an "open drop" strum, with no frets held down. It was synthesized using the program 'sox'. The sound is coming from the fans of a server. By pulling out one of the fans, all other fans turn up to 100%. The microphone is located above the air duct exactly in the middle of the case and thus between two fan fronts. The soundfile starts with the fans on standard speed. After a few seconds the fans turn up to 100%. I left them there for a few seconds and then quietly plugged the removed fan back in. This fan now also switches to 100% - this is the single, delayed "speed up" that can be heard from second 35. About 10 seconds later, all fans return to normal speed. Unfortunately, a colleague came in at that time and ended up talking into the recording. Due to lack of time, i was unfortunately unable to repeat the audio that day, but will certainly do another re-recording in the future. Feel free to use the sound; no attribution required. A quick piece i made using various effects, to give the impression of a factory accident in which a fire/explosion occurs, and steam vents and opened etc. Attribution information:. The sound of an ice maker on a water cooler doing a few cycles. My amazing aunt harriet amazes again by sending me this sound of her ice maker. She taped her old iphone to the inside of the door on her new water cooler/ice maker combo, and let the ice maker run for a few cycles. She even typed up a description of what it does for me so i could post this here on freesound:the water is pumped from a reservoir underneeth the ice tray into a tray above that houses 9 pegs. The water is then cooled to freezing, while the 9 pegs are simultaneously cooled to hold the ice in place. More water is then pumped into the tray to thicken each piece of ice. After a few minutes, excess water is dumped back into the reservoir and ice falls from the pegs into the ice tray. The process then repeats. Enjoy and use however you like!.

About the sample: here is a deep/house kick i made. Using an mpc 60. It has been further processed using uad2 powered plugins/ & waves. About me: i make all my content from the ground up,i sample from analog drum machines, i never use softsynths in my sample material. I just prefer to offer the best samples possible. So that you have a unique collection. Without the unique price tag!i wanted to offer something that outshines the commercial packs standard. & i wanted to also do something that fights audio piracy. So, i came on here, and uploaded some of my own sounds which i myself use. Nature, and man-made machines, wake up on a saturday in a small town in southern illinois. Even though getting "away from it all" and experiencing nature in the deep woods, or a quiet field is very enjoyable, let's not forget that nature often lives and thrives side-by-side with us. I recorded this in my back yard on saturday april 27th, 2013 at 6:45 am and you'll hear the low, but everpresent low rumble of a distant train throughout. But, over and above you hear the incredible variety of calls and sounds made by a family of starlings who seem oblivious to the iron horse and the occasional car. We had rain the night before, so every now and then you hear a loud "plop" as a breeze cuts loose fat rain-drop and it hits the foam wind-screen on my h4n. Starting at around 3:47 and running to 4:08 a cardinal makes a strong appearance. I made this recording using my zoom h4n recorder, using it's internal built-in stereo microphones, with the recording gain on 81, out of 100. Enjoy!.

This is the sound of a viking electric lawnmower in action; mowing a piece of lawn. Today i got my audio equipment. This is my first contribution. When i was walking around today to catch sounds, i met a man who was mowing his lawn. I asked him if i could record him while he was mowing his lawn. He agreed and i was allowed to record him mowing. It's a viking electric lawnmower. Description: a man mows the lawn with an electric lawnmower. He drives the lawn mower over a piece of path to the meadow, mows and drives the lawn mower back. At the beginning of the recording, there is a short question asked if he should start now, which i confirm. The recording is unedited. A few cycles of my dad's home oxygen machine with a ticking battery operated clock in the background recorded in the early morning in the living room with lifecam hd3000 webcam at the end of about 16 feet of usb cable dragged out of my bedroom. He's about 6 feet away, i was with my back to the room with my camera pointed at my chest so he wouldn't think i was filming. It would seem this is the first and only oxygen machine on freesound. A full cycle seems to last from between 7 to 10 seconds. From wikipediaoxygen concentrators typically use pressure swing adsorption technology and are used very widely for oxygen provision in healthcare applications, especially where liquid or pressurised oxygen is too dangerous or inconvenient, such as in homes or in portable clinics. Oxygen concentrators are also used to provide an economical source of oxygen in industrial processes, where they are also known as oxygen gas generators or oxygen generation plants. Oxygen concentrators utilize a molecular sieve to adsorb gasses and operate on the principle of rapid pressure swing adsorption of atmospheric nitrogen onto zeolite minerals and then venting the nitrogen. This type of adsorption system is therefore functionally a nitrogen scrubber leaving the other atmospheric gasses to pass through. This leaves oxygen as the primary gas remaining. Psa technology is a reliable and economical technique for small to mid-scale oxygen generation, with cryogenic separation more suitable at higher volumes and external delivery generally more suitable for small volumes. [1]at high pressure, the porous zeolite adsorbs large quantities of nitrogen, due to its large surface area and chemical character. After the oxygen and other free components are collected the pressure drops which allows nitrogen to desorb. An oxygen concentrator has an air compressor, two cylinders filled with zeolite pellets, a pressure equalizing reservoir, and some valves and tubes. In the first half-cycle the first cylinder receives air from the compressor, which lasts about 3 seconds. During that time the pressure in the first cylinder rises from atmospheric to about 1. 5 times normal atmospheric pressure (typically 20 psi/138 kpa gauge, or 1. 36 atmospheres absolute) and the zeolite becomes saturated with nitrogen. As the first cylinder reaches near pure oxygen (there are small amounts of argon, co2, water vapour, radon and other minor atmospheric components) in the first half-cycle, a valve opens and the oxygen enriched gas flows to the pressure equalizing reservoir, which connects to the patient's oxygen hose. At the end of the first half of the cycle, there is another valve position change so that the air from the compressor is directed to the 2nd cylinder. Pressure in the first cylinder drops as the enriched oxygen moves into the reservoir, allowing the nitrogen to be desorbed back into gas. Part way through the second half of the cycle there is another valve position change to vent the gas in the first cylinder back into the ambient atmosphere, keeping the concentration of oxygen in the pressure equalizing reservoir from falling below about 90%. The pressure in the hose delivering oxygen from the equalizing reservoir is kept steady by a pressure reducing valve. Older units cycled with a period of about 20 seconds, and supplied up to 5 litres per minute of 90+% oxygen. Since about 1999, units capable of supplying up to 10 lpm have been available.

My first upload! this sound i made using the zmors synth on my ipad air2 - i used audiobus which is a great routing software allowing many of a lot of awesome sounding synths that are now on ipad and can be played professionally via a usb keyboard controller (very handy for gigging) okay this is getting too wordy. . . I used audiobus overall with zmors in the first slot being routed through the wonderful aufx eq app in the center (effects) slot then ran the most useful of all ---> audioshare app in the 3rd or output slot to record it all. . . Keep in mind that the number of devices you can run in these three slots is virtually limitless - as much as your device can handle so you can get really nuts with several synths, a drum machine, etc all routing to the middle (fx) stop in the chain and picking up a fat 3 or 4 nice sounding effects devices then on to output to audioshare or you can now use just audioshare as host and run zmors in it directly (and probably more smoothly). I chose zmors because on a couple of other ipads (ipad mini, ipad 2 especially, and ipad air a little bit) i was noticing that it was a resource hog and was not playing correctly or there was a huge lag in the latency so with the new(er) ipad air 2 i wanted to hear the zmors synth and it really is an underappreciated majestic sounding beast if you ask me. I am going to experiment further with it as the unique architecture and just the way it sounds is totally different from any other synth i've yet to hear on ipad or in general. It kind of reminds me of a fatter, more modern. Sequential circuits 6 track. Which i've had a couple of and have a thick layered sound - kind of like a really nice turkey sandwich with a good portion of swiss cheese then you notice that there's still some roast beef left and put a good amount of that between bread as well. This is the audible annunciation found at all intersections with traffic lights in paris, france. It announces the condition of the traffic lights for pedestrians who are blind or with impaired vision. The annunciation is turned on by pressing a button on the traffic light pole. When the crosswalk sign is red (do not cross), the recorded annunciation is always "rouge piéton" ("red light, pedestrian"), followed by the name of the street that the crosswalk crosses (in this case "rue d'antin," the quiet side street where i recorded this). This repeats over and over until the crosswalk changes to green, at which point there is a two-second trill tone followed by a repeating bell tone. The bell tone is one bell, followed by two bells, repeated four times, followed by a very brief pause, and then the sequence is repeated again. This continues until the crosswalk changes back to red, at which point the "rouge piéton" message resumes. The annunciation continues for at least one cycle of the traffic lights and then stops, unless the button is pressed again. The audio quality of the annunciation is very poor even in real life (it sounds like a wax cylinder recording or something), and can be difficult to understand. This recording accurately captures the poor quality of the annunciation. The volume of the annunciation is also adjusted dynamically based on ambient noise, so there is a slight change in volume on this recording as the system apparently reacts to noise from traffic or something. There is a weak background noise that sounds like some sort of machine, but it wasn't coming from the traffic light and i don't know the source. The recording starts with the crosswalk red, then at about 18. 3 seconds it changes to green, then it changes back to red at about 53 seconds. A car passes at around 48 seconds. Recorded with a zoom h4n, stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics, from about ten inches below the tiny speaker in the crosswalk sign housing.

Patch walkthrough. The patch starts with the qu-bit chance providing discrete random values (sample and hold) going into an instruo harmonaig. This takes the stepped random voltages and quantizing them to a given scale. I put in the notes c d eb f g ab bb which is a c natural minor scale, the relative minor of eb major (for anyone that's curious). However like most of my modular work i didn't actually tune the oscillators to anything specific. So treat the scale as a pattern of intervals not a set of specific notes. The quantized notes then form 4 voice chords giving us a root, third, fifth and seventh cv output that will be diatonic following the scale pattern, meaning the third will be major or minor, the seventh major, minor or dominant and the fifth natural or diminshed to suit the scale. With the 4 quantized outputs on the harmonaig these all go into the four oscillators on the synthesis technology e370 quad morphing vco. Each of the e370 oscillators are in the basic morph xy mode using the built in rom b set of wavetables. Wavetables are modulating by various mixes of the befaco rampage, mutable instruments tides, wmd multimode envelopes and music thing modular turing machine. The modulation sources are mixed and split with multiples and mixers. These modulating wavetables then go into a bubblesound vca4p where i'm using 4 mk1 intellijel dixie oscillators all un-synced and free running with sine wave lfos. Each lfo freely fades the voice in and out of the vca4p. As this is unsynced there's no regard to pitch changes linked to changes in amplitude and the swells. I find splitting the gate/rhythm from pitch regarding sequencing to be a freeing and interesting way to work that's not available on traditional instruments. This is just a simple application of that idea with the lfos fading freely unrelated to the other modulation or sequencing of pitch. The sound then goes from the vca4p mix out into a befaco mixer and praxis snake charmer which the output section of the larger case and i'm sending a 'pre' auxiliary out into my fx case. The dry sound first goes into the erica synths fusion delay / flanger vintage ensemble which is giving me short modulated delays giving vibrato like sounds and pushing the input level and overdrive gives us some warmth and grit that thickens up the sound and also fills in the gaps left by the free running lfos pulling quieter sounds and compressing in the on board tube. This then outputs to the feedback 1 bit multitap delay module which has it's delay chip pushed to longer times for some added crackle and noise. I'm using the two delay taps for a shorter and longer delay with little feedback to mix the dry sound for a generally noisier and smeared version of the input. This then goes into the xaoc devices kamieniec with it's on board lfo as slow as possibly for a mildly resonant phase shifting. This goes into mutable instruments clouds set to sew random grains slowly and randomly which are pitch shifted up 2 octaves to fill out some high end flourishes against the closed chord voicings at the core of the patch. Finally this goes into a long lush reverb from the halls of valhalla card in the tiptop audio z-dsp. The stereo fx chain and the mono dry signal are mixed in the befaco hexmix and recorded as a mixed stereo file. I'd consider this to be the main 'reel'. However i split the dry signal and the fx only wet stereo signal and recorded those at the same time so you can choose which reel to use and experiment with dry/wet or blended sounds from this patch.
